Kori

Kori is a dreamer, designer and quilt shop owner.

She went to Savannah, College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia and received a BFA in Interior design. In the corporate world she designed everything from retail interiors to education facilities while living and working in Columbus, Ohio and Washington D.C. After moving around she came back to her farm girl roots in North East Ohio and in 2009 opened a quilt shop and soon started designing patterns. She really wanted to honor the people that she has loved and lost and the places that she has been to. This is what she thinks makes her designs and business practices unique. As well as because she is always thinking about the people that she loves and this helps her create quilts and other fun designs that are made out of love!

There goes my dad… always carrying, rolling, moving and doing the hard work for me and this little business. He is one of my humans who doesn’t get much recognition but always making my life easier. He is one of my biggest supporters and I could never have unloaded and gone through all those boxes without him or do what I do really. We are blessed to have an area we can store all this #jayebird fabric by @windhamfabrics because as you can see lol all of it would not fit in that little red schoolhouse. So two bolts of the whole collection have made their way in and now tomorrow to display and fill orders! Thanks dad for hauling this little business all around the countryside in a pig trailer turned rolling quilt shop to shlepping my fabric now into the shop. I’m so honored that this quilt has made such a statement and so many want to make her! Here is a little description of Jaye’s Bouquet 💐 Jaye is my daughter and I call her Jaye Bird. She is the inspiration from the stitches that I made in each patch, to the design of each pattern. Jaye has a connection with the earth, and it amazes me how she looks at nature and she really loves flowers, just like her momma. This quilt is meant to be worked on over a 13-month period but if you want to work on it faster or slower that is all good too. Jaye’s Bouquet is special for so many reasons and I hope while you are hand embroidering or sitting at your sewing machine that you feel its specialness as well. I encourage you to make this quilt your own, If one of the flowers speaks to you in a different color, then pull out your embroidery thread stash and change it up. For example, my hydrangea in block five is hot pink because at a secret cottage on an awesome lake sits a hot pink hydrangea bush. Maybe, you have a blue hydrangea bush that sparks a memory of fresh cut flower bouquets in summer! The stitching may look complicated but I promise it is not. There are three basic stitches and I throw in a few intermediate stitches but the beauty of making this quilt for yourself is MAKE IT YOURS. If a stitch makes you want to scream replace it with a stitch you are comfortable with. It truly is that simple. The stitching in this quilt is what I call modern red work with a little bit of embellishment, do not be be intimidated.
